9/1 - The Hole in the Ground (2019)*ĩ/26 - The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)ġ0/1 - The X-Files “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster” (2016) This was my first time watching it on 4K and it looked amazing - I particularly love the production design on this film. I think Stephen King's criticisms of Jack Nicholson's performance are valid, as well as it being a tad overlong (I watched the 144 minute version), otherwise Kubrick does such a masterful job of creating a sense of dread throughout.
It's interesting how poorly this was received back in 1980, as well as how it's become such a revered masterpiece now. While watching Pearl yesterday, Mia Goth reminded me a bit of Shelley Duvall in both her looks and mannerisms, so I took that as a sign to revisit this classic.
